Hi there! My name is Karen, to welcome you to La Plume de Fleur. I am a fully trained and qualified florist. I love to create contemporary, elegant and innovative floral designs. My style is romantic, very natural and distinctive, I love a touch of anything whimsical, unusual and wild.

I am the everything of the business, I am a one woman show but am lucky enough to have a team of willing family and friends who always put their hands up when I need help. I am a mum to two beautiful daughters, I love my job and my beautiful brides, even after several thousand wedding bouquets I still love receiving photos from my clients. I get a thrill whenever someone orders and an even bigger thrill when it's being shipped somewhere exotic, I am a traveller but my flowers have definitely travelled further than I ever have, Dubai, Bermuda, France, USA, UK, Guam, Korea. I need to put up a map and pin everywhere I have shipped to.

I began selling on Etsy in early 2015, 3 months later I was approached by EtsyAU + Bride Australia magazine to participate in a magazine photoshoot and they flew me to Melbourne to exhibit at wedding trunk show. That was pretty special and a total honour. From there I just haven’t looked back.

Several years ago as my daughters were getting a little older, I decided that I needed a break from the intensity of fresh flower weddings. I was drawn to working with feathers, feathered flower bouquets and hair accessories. I loved it and what I was able to create but it wasn’t enough for my creative juices to really let loose. La Plume de Fleur is French for the feathered flower.

Around that time I noticed that there was a definite and major improvement in the availability of quality and realistic faux flowers, so it dovetailed nicely into La Plume as it is now. I spent countless hours and probably way too much money finding the best of everything from around the world – a lot of trial and error but it didn’t take long to work out who had the best of everything.

Now I work almost exclusively with artificial flowers, foliages and plants but have kept the name. Possibly because I am just a little bit French-aholic.

I’m so excited that you found my handmade shop. Believe it or not, the one question I am asked the most is ‘are your flowers real’. No they aren’t! Although fresh flowers are pretty and I did work exclusively with them for 16 years, I am totally in love with faux flowers and that’s what I design 100% of our orders with.

All that experience with fresh flowers means that I can promise you that your faux flowers are going to be exquisite. Everything that I source from suppliers around the world have to meet some pretty high standards. Everything that I design and create comes with all my experience as a fully qualified and trained florist. Combining my traditional florist training with modern techniques means that your flowers are going to withstand almost anything you can throw at them. They will last.

The details are our passion; and because of this, your wedding flowers will have polish and quality that is unsurpassed. Every bride has her own personality and style, and it takes special attention to the details to discover and develop this. We especially enjoy working with brides to come up with gorgeous designs that truly capture their spirit. We believe that all elements of design, as well as an event, must work together.
